Regular Season Round 21: Roche - Clermont 88-73

Date: February 10, 2012
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Roche (14-7) beat at home 15th ranked Stade Clermont (6-15) 88-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Roche. Stade Clermont was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Stade Clermont was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Bahamas power forward Lavar Simmons (201-83, college: Master's) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Aurelien Toto N'Kote (194-79) contributed with 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. American forward Marcus Jackson (202-82, college: Marquette, agency: Court Side) answered with 13 points and 9 rebounds and guard Bianco Matanga (188-87) added 18 points in the effort for Stade Clermont. Five Roche and four Stade Clermont players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Roche. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Souffel. Stade Clermont lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 15 games lost. Roche will face league's second-placed Saint-Quentin on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stade Clermont will play against CFBB (#18) in Paris and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
