Regular Season Round 25: Brock - Lakehead 77-70 OT

Fifth-ranked Lakehead (9-10) gave a tough game to third ranked Brock (13-7) in Catharines on Friday. Brock managed to secure only seven-point victory 77-70. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lakehead. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lakehead won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Lakehead used huge pressure winning it 14-7 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 2-9. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Brock made 7 blocks. Lakehead was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Nicole Rosenkranz (185) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and guard Andrea Polischuk (180) chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five Brock players scored in double figures. Brock's coach Si Khounviseth used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side guard Carolyn Fragale (168-89) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Lindsay Druery (185-88) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. Brock moved-up to second place. Lakehead at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Brock will face again Lakehead (#5) in Thunder Bay in the next round.
