Rather predictable result when third ranked Toronto (13-6) defeated at home 7th ranked Laurentian (3-16) 69-51 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Toronto. Laurentian was better in fourth quarter 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Laurentian to just 5 points in third quarter. Toronto forced 35 Laurentian turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Amanda Lauzon (185) stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Megan Stoncius (178) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side forward Emma Decloe (183) responded with 13 points and guard Danielle Harris (165) scored 11 points and 4 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toronto maintains third place with 13-6 record having four points less than leader Windsor, which they share with Calgary. Laurentian lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 16 games lost. Toronto's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Toronto York.
