Regular Season Round 19: Hawks - Breakers 80-64

Top ranked New Zealand Breakers (15-6) recorded its sixth loss in Gwynneville on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Wollongong Hawks (6-14) 80-64. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of New Zealand Breakers. The game was mostly controlled by Wollongong Hawks. New Zealand Breakers managed to win third quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international power forward Oscar Forman (205-82) fired 29 points and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. American forward Joevan Catron (198-88, college: Oregon) chipped in 15 points. New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Wollongong Hawks maintains eighth place with 6-14 record. New Zealand Breakers at the other side still keep top position with six games lost. Wollongong Hawks are again looking forward to face league's leader New Zealand Breakers in Auckland in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. New Zealand Breakers will have a break next round.
