Round 17 most important game was a victory of Sydney Uni Flames over 6th ranked Bendigo Spirit 72-70 on Saturday night. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. The former international forward Belinda Snell (181-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Amy Denson (186-84, college: Arizona St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. International swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) added 13 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Bendigo Spirit. Four Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. Bendigo Spirit's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sydney Uni Flames (12-9) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Townsville F. Bendigo Spirit at the other side dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Sydney Uni Flames is looking forward to face West Coast Waves (#9) in Perth in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Bendigo Spirit will play at home against Logan Thunder in Loganholme and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
