Very predictable result when third ranked Leyma Basquet (10-5) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Tenerife (3-12) 81-65. The game was mostly controlled by Leyma Basquet. Tenerife was better in third quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tenerife to just 7 points in first quarter. Leyma Basquet forced 22 Tenerife turnovers and outrebounded them 35-23 including 20 on the defensive glass. Tenerife was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by American power forward Kim Adams (203-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Strategic Sports) who scored that evening 7 points and 10 rebounds and forward Raul Lazaro (195-87) supported him with 13 points. Even 16 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry, agency: Prossin Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Tenerife. point guard Ignacio Guigou (186-91) added 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leyma Basquet have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Ourense. Tenerife lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Leyma Basquet will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tenerife will play on the road against Fontedoso Carrefour (#9) in Avila and hopes to get back on the winning track.
