Regular Season Round 29: Alberta - Brandon 72-51

Date: February 11, 2012
There was no surprise in Edmonton, AB where 6th ranked Bobcats (7-13) were outplayed by second ranked Golden Bears (14-6) 72-51 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Golden Bears. Bobcats was better in third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Bobcats 50-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. International guard Jordan Baker (192-91, college: Utah Valley) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and swingman Daniel Ferguson (191, college: Valdosta St.) chipped in 23 points. Ilarion Bonhomme responded with 13 points and 5 assists and Ali Mounir scored 6 points and 10 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Golden Bears have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-6 record having just -6 point less than leader Saskatchewan. Loser Bobcats keep the sixth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
