There was a minor upset when second-best Toyota Alvark (21-9) lost to fourth ranked Panasonic Trians (17-13) in Osaka 60-69 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-7 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Panasonic Trians dominated on the defensive end, holding Toyota Alvark to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Toyota Alvark 43-32 including 28 on the defensive glass. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Ace Custis (202-74, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led his team to a victory with 10 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) answered with 8 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Toyota Alvark.
