Not a big story in a game in Fredericton, NB where 7th ranked Varsity Reds (6-11) were defeated by fifth ranked Tigers (7-9) 77-69 on Saturday. Varsity Reds trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 22-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 69-77 at the end of the game. Varsity Reds were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Ritchie Kanza Mata stepped up and scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and Bahamas forward Robert Nortmann (198) chipped in 14 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Alex Desroches (193) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals and Seth Amoah scored 16 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tigers maintains fifth place with 7-9 record, which they share with St.Mary's. Loser Varsity Reds dropped to the fifth position with 11 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
