Regular Season Round 29: Cape Breton - UPEI 111-90

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Panthers (12-4) in Sydney, NS on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by fourth ranked Capers (9-6) 111-90. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Panthers. The game was mostly controlled by Capers. Panthers managed to win fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 24-of-29 free shots (82.8 percent) during the game. Capers forced 19 Panthers turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) stepped up with a triple-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and guard Julien Smith (178) chipped in 22 points and 9 assists. Forward Geoff Doane (196) responded with 22 points and Sudanese forward Manock Lual (198-89) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Five Capers and four Panthers players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capers maintains fourth place with 9-6 record. Panthers at the other side still keep top position with four games lost. Capers are looking forward to face league's second-placed X-Men in Antigonish, NS in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panthers will play on the road against the league's second-placed X-Men in Antigonish, NS and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
