Rather expected game in Puerto La Cruz where 4th placed Gigantes (4-3) were defeated by leader Marinos (6-0) 92-84 on Saturday. Gigantes trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 33-30 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 84-92 at the end of the game. Marinos held Gigantes to an opponent 0.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 0.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Gigantes were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Leon Rodgers (199-80, college: N.Illinois) stepped up and scored 33 points (!!!) for the winners and international forward Axiers Sucre (198-78) chipped in 15 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists.
