Regular Season Round 22: Sokol Lancut - Spojnia 62-65

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Sokol Lancut (16-5) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Spojnia (13-7) 65-62. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Sokol Lancut. Sokol Lancut cut a 13-point halftime deficit to three at the end of the game. Spojnia dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Sokol Lancut's 22. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Spojnia made 7 blocks. Point guard Tomasz Ochonko (185-86) scored 15 points and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Hubert Pabian (202-89) chipped in 13 points during the contest. Spojnia's coach Tadeusz Aleksandrowicz used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side center Maciej Klima (205-82) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and forward Pawel Bogdanowicz (197-87) scored 14 points. Spojnia moved-up to fourth place, which they share with SKK Siedlce. Sokol Lancut at the other side still keeps top position with five games lost. Spojnia is looking forward to face league's second-placed Start Gdynia at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Sokol Lancut will have a break next round.
