Regular Season Round 8: Al Rayyan - Qatar 87-70

Another interesting game was again a derby between two local teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#1) and Qatar Sports Club (#8). Al Rayyan (8-0) smashed visiting Qatar Sports Club (0-8) by 17 points 87-70. Al Rayyan looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Qatar Sports Club's players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Hassan Mohamed (191-91) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 assists and the former international power forward Yasseen Ismail (204-80) who added 21 points and 4 steals during the contest. Al Rayyan's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) responded with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Senegalese Oumar Seck produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Rayyan have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 8-0 record. Loser Qatar Sports Club still closes the standings with eight games lost. Al Rayyan will meet Al Wakrah (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
