Charleville-Mezieres managed to secure a 9-point victory 85-76 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Sorgues won third quarter 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Sorgues outrebounded Charleville-Mezieres 44-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. American-British power forward Tafari Toney (203-86, agency: JEMsports) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winning side and center Cyril Guillarme (206-84) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Samir Mekdad (188-86) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Moroccan guard Yassine Bassine (198-84) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Sorgues in the defeat. Charleville-Mezieres keeps a position of league leader, which they share with St Quentin. Loser Sorgues keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Challans. Charleville-Mezieres will meet at home Chartres (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Sorgues will play against Lievin Basket (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
