Regular Season Round 15: Tochigi Brex - Mitsubishi DD 91-89

Seventh-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (11-19) were very close to win a game against fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (15-15) on Sunday. Tochigi Brex managed to secure only two-point victory 91-89. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 29-23 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Tochigi Brex made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who led the winners and scored 36 points (!!!) and 8 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). American forward Ivan McFarlin (203-82, college: Oklahoma St.) accounted for 29 points and 13 rebounds for the winning side. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) came up with 17 points and 5 assists and American center Byron Allen (201-81, college: Northwestern St.) added 12 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Mitsubishi Dolphins in the defeat. Five Mitsubishi Dolphins players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fifth place with 15-15 record. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the seventh position with 19 games lost. Tochigi Brex will meet league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Panasonic Trians (#4) in Osaka and hope to secure a win.
