There was no surprise in Bilbao where 12th ranked Assignia Manresa (9-11) was crushed by eighth ranked Gescrap BB (11-9) 88-60 on Sunday. Gescrap BB outrebounded Assignia Manresa 38-25 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Latvian guard Janis Blums (190-82) who scored 21 points. The former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Javier Rodriguez (189-79, college: Boston Coll.) produced 6 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and Hungarian guard Adam Hanga (201-89, agency: TSS Management) added 13 points respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gescrap BB have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with CAI Zaragoza. Loser Assignia Manresa keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Gescrap BB will face UCAM Murcia (#17) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Assignia Manresa will play against Cajasol (#10) in Sevilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
