There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Valencia Basket (10-10) defeated at home higher ranked Lagun Aro GBC (10-10) 69-60 on Sunday. Lagun Aro GBC was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Lagun Aro GBC 44-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Lagun Aro GBC was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was French guard Nando De Colo (202-87) who scored 18 points and 4 assists. American forward Niklas Caner-Medley (203-83, college: Maryland, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 7 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Sergi Vidal (198-81) produced 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Andy Panko (204-77, college: Lebanon Valley) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valencia Basket moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Lagun Aro GBC.
