Regular Season Round 30: Cape Breton - Acadia 111-106

There was a minor upset in Sydney, NS where one of their biggest challengers Axemen (9-6) was defeated by third ranked Capers (10-7) 111-106 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 30-25. But Axemen won second period 32-28. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Capers won last quarter 30-27. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Capers looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) who had a double-double by scoring 49 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 14 assists. Guard Al Alilovic (198) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international forward Owen Klassen (208-91) who recorded 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and point guard Sean Stoqua (180) added 19 points and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Capers maintains third position with 10-7 record having thirteen points less than leader Saskatchewan. Loser Axemen dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Capers will have a break next round. Axemen will play at home against the league's second-placed Panthers (#2) in Charlottetown, PEI and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
