Regular Season Round 15: Aishin SH - Toshiba BT 62-72

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Aishin Sea Horses (22-8) in Kariya on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by eighth ranked Toshiba Thunders (4-26) 72-62. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. The game was mostly controlled by Toshiba Thunders. Aishin Sea Horses managed to win fourth quarter 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aishin Sea Horses 38-24 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. The former international swingman Shohei Kikuchi (190-85) contributed with 17 points for the winners. The former international power forward J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) answered with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) added 15 points in the effort for Aishin Sea Horses. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toshiba Thunders maintains eighth place with 4-26 record. Defending champion Aishin Sea Horses still keep top position with eight games lost. Toshiba Thunders are looking forward to face higher ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (#3) in Osaka in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aishin Sea Horses will play on the road against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and are hoping to win this game.
