Rather predictable result in Buenos Aires where sixth ranked Lanus (13-9) defeated 9th ranked Quimsa (10-12) 71-67 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 24-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. International guard Nicolas Laprovittola (189-90) fired 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Panamanian power forward Jamaal Levy (206-83, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. Five Lanus players scored in double figures. Lanus' coach Silvio Jose Santander allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American power forward James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: Dream Team Management) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Bernard Robinson (198-81, college: Michigan) added 16 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Lanus maintains sixth position with 13-9 record. Loser Quimsa dropped to the tenth place with 12 games lost. Lanus will meet at home GECR Indalo (#9) in the next round. Quimsa will play against the league's leader Penarol in Mar del Plata and hope to secure a win.
