Very important is a road loss of third ranked DongGuan Leopards (19-12) against eighth ranked Xinjiang Flying Tige (17-13) on Sunday night. Visiting DongGuan Leopards were defeated by Xinjiang Flying Tige in a tough game in Urumqi 89-97. The hosts were already 19 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 30-19 DongGuan Leopards' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 97-89 at the end of the game. They outrebounded DongGuan Leopards 57-33 including a 27-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. DongGuan Leopards were plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international center ZhengDong Tang (213-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. American swingman Tim Pickett (193-81, college: Florida St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Xinjiang Flying Tige players scored in double figures. Xinjiang Flying Tige's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) answered with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and Nigerian-American guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) added 24 points in the effort for DongGuan Leopards. Xinjiang Flying Tige moved-up to fifth place. DongGuan Leopards at the other side keep the third position with 12 games lost. Xinjiang Flying Tige will play against Fujian SBS XunXin (#7) in Jinjiang in the next round. DongGuan Leopards will play on the road against Shanxi Zhongyu (#4) in Taiyuan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
