We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Maranho where 5th ranked Santo Andre (8-6) was edged by sixth ranked Maranhao (5-7) 61-60 on Monday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Santo Andre won third quarter 16-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maranhao dominated on the defensive end, holding Santo Andre to just 7 points in first quarter. The best player for the winners was international swingman Iziane Castro Marques (183-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Center Dominick Rocha (185-89) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds.
