Second Stage Round 23: Obras - GECR Indalo 76-78

A very interesting game took place in Buenos Aires. It ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Obras (16-6) to eighth ranked GECR Indalo (11-12) 78-76 on Wednesday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. Obras was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Obras 34-22 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was an exceptional evening for American-Spanish forward Devin Davis (202-74, college: Miami, OH) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Naturalized Italian point guard Diego Ciorciari (184-80, agency: Interperformances) accounted for 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. International power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and American forward Tony Washam (200-82, college: St.Vincent) added 19 points respectively for Obras in the defeat. Four Obras players scored in double figures. GECR Indalo have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Despite that victory GECR Indalo went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with Regatas C. Obras lost fourth consecutive game. They still keep top place with six games lost. GECR Indalo's next round opponent will be Quilmes MP (#15) in Mar del Plata which should be theoretically an easy game. Obras will play at home against Regatas Corrientes (#10).
