Fourteenth-ranked Bayi Fubang (10-21) was very close to win a game against first ranked Guandong Tigers (27-5) in Dongguan on Wednesday. Guandong Tigers managed to secure only one-point victory 92-91. However their fans expected much easier game. Bayi Fubang was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 31-24 charge of Guandong Tigers, which allowed them to win the game. 26 personal fouls committed by Bayi Fubang helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 12 rebounds. International forward FangYu Zhu (201-83) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international center ZhiZhi Wang (214-77) replied with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Lei Wang (203-86) added 18 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Bayi Fubang. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guandong Tigers maintains first position with 27-5 record. Bayi Fubang at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
