Seventh-ranked Fileni BPA (8-10) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Givova Scafati (13-6) in Jesi on Wednesday. The visitors from Scafati managed to secure only one-point victory 92-91. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 92-91. Givova Scafati made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Givova Scafati outrebounded Fileni BPA 32-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Paul Marigney (192-82, college: St.Mary's, CA) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points and 4 steals. The former international forward Nikola Radulovic (207-73) helped adding 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Richard McConnell (182-89, college: St.Mary's, CA, agency: Priority Sports) responded with 30 points and 7 assists and the other American import forward Jeff Brooks (203-89, college: Penn St.) scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Givova Scafati and four Fileni BPA players scored in double figures. Givova Scafati have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Giorgio Tesi PT and Enel Brindisi. Loser Fileni BPA dropped to the eighth position with ten games lost. Givova Scafati will meet at home Morpho Basket (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fileni BPA will have a break next round.
