Date: February 15, 2012
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Trenkwalder RE as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Trenkwalder RE smashed 6th ranked Centrale Latte in Reggio Emilia 85-59. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Centrale Latte. The game was mostly controlled by Trenkwalder RE. Centrale Latte was better in third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trenkwalder RE dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Centrale Latte's 22. Trenkwalder RE forced 19 Centrale Latte turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Donell Taylor (198-82, college: UAB) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Dawan Robinson (189-82, college: Rhode Island) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Naturalized Argentinian forward Mario Jose Ghersetti (200-81) answered with 17 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized Albanian guard Franko Bushati (188-85) added 9 points in the effort for Centrale Latte. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Centrale Latte at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. Centrale Latte will play next round against Tezenis Verona trying to get back on the winning streak. Trenkwalder RE will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
