Regular Season Round 31: Nova Ves - Nitra 87-90

Fifth-ranked Nova Ves (14-14) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Nitra (19-9). The visitors from Nitra managed to secure only three-point victory 90-87. However their fans expected easier game. Nova Ves were ahead by 7 points after three quarters before a 29-19 charge of Nitra, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Robert Nuber (187-83) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Branislav Tomek (205-83) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American guard Corey Jefferson (183-85, college: Texas St.) responded with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and the other American import forward Andrew Jones (208-87, college: Penn St.) scored 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nitra keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Prievidza. Nova Ves at the other side keep the fifth place with 14 games lost. Nitra will play against Komarno (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Nova Ves will play against Handlova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
