Regular Season Round 22: Cassovia K. - Roznava 78-65

Bottom-ranked Cassovia K. managed to get a second victory, breaking the three-game losing streak on Wednesday night. This time newly promoted Cassovia K. won against sixth-ranked Roznava in Kosice 78-65. The game was mostly controlled by Cassovia K.. Roznava managed to win third quarter 28-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cassovia K. dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Roznava's 24 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Strangely Roznava outrebounded Cassovia K. 41-28 including 16 on the offensive glass. Center Eva Filickova (192-95) notched 15 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Katarina Timkova (172-81) supported her with 14 points and 5 steals. Cassovia K.'s coach Aleksandra Michalekova used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds by forward Zuzana Babarikova (176-86) did not help to save the game for Roznava. Center Katarina Simkulakova (182-80) added 14 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Cassovia K. maintains seventh position with 2-17 record. Roznava lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 15 games lost. Cassovia K.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Kosice Dannax Sport.
