Another exciting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: As Sadd (#3) and Al Arabi (#4). Al Arabi was defeated at home 59-71 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. As Sadd outrebounded Al Arabi 41-28 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Senegalese forward Djibril Thiam (208-86, college: Wyoming) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Bahrain center Mohammed Yousef (204) chipped in 17 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American-Nigerian forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Dream Team Management) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Mansour Atif (177-90) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. As Sadd (7-2) moved-up to second place. Loser Al Arabi keeps the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with Al Jaysh. As Sadd's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharrafah.
