Regular Season Round 20: Breakers - Hawks 82-74

NBL top team - New Zealand Breakers (16-6) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Wollongong Hawks (6-15) in Auckland 82-74. Wollongong Hawks were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 44-34 second half run of New Zealand Breakers. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) who added 25 points during the contest. Guard Rhys Martin (193-86, college: Nova SE) responded with 12 points and 5 assists and American guard Ayinde Ubaka (193-85, college: California) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. New Zealand Breakers maintains first position with 16-6 record. Wollongong Hawks at the other side dropped to the bottom place with 15 games lost. They share the position with 36ers. New Zealand Breakers will play against Townsville Crocodiles (#3) in Wulguru in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Wollongong Hawks will play on the road against Gold Coast Blaze (#5) in Broadbeach and hope to get back on the winning track.
