Regular Season Round 9: Al Jaysh - Al Gharafa 81-74

Another exciting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Jaysh (#5) and Al Gharrafah (#2). Al Jaysh (5-4) won against visiting Al Gharrafah (6-3) 81-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Gharrafah. It was a good game for Senegalese power forward Babacar Marone (206-83, agency: Court Side) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized Lebanese guard Fadi Hani (184) contributed with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Four Al Jaysh players scored in double figures. American guard Boney Watson (183, college: Sam Houston St.) answered with 26 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and international center Omar Abdelkader (206-83) added 16 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for Al Gharrafah. Al Jaysh moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Al Arabi. Al Gharrafah at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. Al Jaysh will play against Al Wakrah (#7) on the road in the next round. Al Gharrafah's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena As Sadd.
