Date: February 17, 2012
There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Logan Thunder (12-10) was defeated on the road by seventh ranked Bendigo Spirit (12-10) 71-58 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Bendigo Spirit. Logan Thunder was better in second period 16-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bendigo Spirit had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Bendigo Spirit especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. International swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) scored 23 points to lead the charge for the winners and the former international guard Kristi Harrower (166-75) chipped in 15 points and 7 assists during the contest. Four Bendigo Spirit players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Sarah Graham (163-89) with 13 points and American power forward Corinna Montgomery (188-87, college: Nebraska) scored 10 points. Logan Thunder's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bendigo Spirit moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Logan T. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
