Regular Season Round 24: Forca Lleida - Clavijo 63-69
Date: February 17, 2012
An interesting game took place in Lleida where higher ranked Lleida Basquet (14-10) was upset on its own court by twelfth ranked CB Clavijo (11-13) 69-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lleida Basquet. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lleida Basquet won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Lleida Basquet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Nigerian power forward Olaseni Lawal (208-86, college: Wayne St., MI) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American point guard Mathew Witt (183-84, college: E.Kentucky) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Lawal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. CB Clavijo's coach Jesus Sala allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American-Austrian guard Jason Detrick (198-80, college: Oklahoma, agency: Court Side) replied with 15 points and American-Croatian guard Marcus Norris (185-74, college: Ball St., agency: SportsTalent) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Lleida Basquet. Four Lleida Basquet players scored in double figures. CB Clavijo moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Caceres and Breogan. Lleida Basquet at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. CB Clavijo's next round opponent will be higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (#10) at home and it may be quite challenging game.
