Regular Season Round 19: Lapua - Huima 111-85

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (14-5) smashed at home 7th ranked Aanekosken Huima (8-11) 111-85 on Friday. The game without a history. Lapuan Korikobrat led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lapuan Korikobrat dominated down low during the game scoring 94 of its points in the paint compared to Aanekosken Huima's 54. It was a great evening for American guard Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) (perfect from the field making all fourteen shots !!!). His fellow American import forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) helped adding 26 points and 8 rebounds. Lapuan Korikobrat's coach Ville Turja felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Gambian forward Baboucarr Bojang (204-80, college: Illinois St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 22 rebounds and forward Marcel Liukko (195-92) scored 14 points. Four Lapuan Korikobrat and five Aanekosken Huima players scored in double figures. Lapuan Korikobrat have a solid series of four victories in a row. Lapuan Korikobrat moved-up to second place, which they share with Tapiolan Honka. Loser Aanekosken Huima keeps the seventh position with 11 games lost. They share it with Porvoon Tarmo and Ura Basket. Lapuan Korikobrat will meet Pyrinto II (#4) in the next round. Aanekosken Huima will play against BC Nokia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
