Regular Season Round 28: York - Queen's 49-69

Date: February 17, 2012
The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Queen's' (11-10) road victory over 6th ranked York (7-14) 69-49 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Queen's. York was better in second period 11-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding York to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Queen's held York to an opponent 24.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.4 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Brittany Moore (168-89) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and guard Liz Boag (160) who added 10 points and 5 assists during the contest. Queen's' coach Dave Wilson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side forward Samantha Ernest (182) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and forward Courtney Osborne (180) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Queen's moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ryerson and Western. York lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Queen's will face Laurentian (#7) in Greater Sudbury in the next round. York will play at home against RMC in Kingston and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
