Regular Season Round 28: Carleton - Toronto Univ. 66-45

The game between Top Four teams took place in Ottawa. Second ranked host Carleton (16-5) smashed one of their biggest challengers Toronto (14-7) 66-45. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Toronto. The game was mostly controlled by Carleton. Toronto was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Toronto to just 4 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Toronto 39-25 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a very good performance for guard Krista Van Slingerland (180) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Alyson Bush (170) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Carleton players scored in double figures. Guard Jill Stratton (178) replied with 13 points and 5 rebounds and guard Sherri Pierce (168) added 10 points in the effort for Toronto. Toronto's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Carleton have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 16-5 record having just -4 point less than leader McGill which they share with defeated Toronto. Toronto at the other side dropped to the second place with seven games lost. Carleton's next round opponent will be Ryerson (#5) in Toronto. Toronto will play on the road against the league's leader Ottawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
