Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Thessaloniki: Aris (#9) and PAOK (#10). Aris (5-12) won against visiting PAOK (4-13) 62-57. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-12. But PAOK won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aris won last quarter 17-13. The former international guard Nafsika Stavridou (182-86) stepped up and scored 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and guard Niki Hatzakou (175-82) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. American guard Quenese Davis (178-88, college: San Diego St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import power forward Diana Barnes (188-88, college: Miami, FL) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Aris maintains ninth place with 5-12 record. PAOK lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Aris will face bottom-ranked Apollon Ptol. (#12) in Ptolemaida in the next round. PAOK will play at home against Apollon Kal. in Kalamarias and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
