Regular Season Round 16: Mitsubishi DD - Panasonic T. 73-80

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (11-21) lost to fourth ranked Panasonic Trians (19-13) in Nagoya 73-80 on Saturday. Mitsubishi Dolphins trailed by 19 points after 3 quarters before a 28-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-80 at the end of the game. Panasonic Trians made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panasonic Trians made 8 blocks. It was a very good performance for forward Takanori Onishi (195-83) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 rebounds. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) contributed with 16 points for the winners. American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Mitsubishi Dolphins. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Panasonic Trians moved-up to third place, which they share with Hitachi SR. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Panasonic Trians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Osaka Hitachi Sunrockers.
