Regular Season Round 16: Toyota Alvark - Tochigi Brex 94-83

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (23-9) managed to deliver another win on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Tochigi Brex (15-17) in Fuchu 94-83. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 55-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a very good performance for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). International guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) contributed with 27 points for the winners. International guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) replied with 23 points and 6 assists and the former international guard Yuta Tabuse (173-80, college: BYU-Hawaii) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-9 record, which they share with Aishin SH. Loser Tochigi Brex keeps the fifth place with 17 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tochigi Brex will play at home against the league's second-placed Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
