Regular Season Round 20: Union Hainaut - Aix-en-Provence 80-72 OT

Twelfth-ranked Aix-en-Provence (6-14) made lots of trouble for seventh ranked Union Hainaut (10-11) in Saint-Amand. Union Hainaut managed to secure only eight-point victory 80-72. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Aix-en-Provence won third quarter 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Aix-en-Provence used huge pressure winning it 12-10 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 8-16. Union Hainaut dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Aix-en-Provence's 34. The winners were led by American Amisha Carter (186-82, college: Louisiana Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 32 points and 12 rebounds and Polish center Izabela Piekarska (196-85, college: UTEP) supported her with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 12 points and 16 rebounds by Spanish center Cindy Lima (194-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Aix-en-Provence. Guard Sylvie Gruszczynski (171-86) added 23 points for the guests. Four Union Hainaut and five Aix-en-Provence players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Union Hainaut went down to eighth position due to points difference. Aix-en-Provence at the other side keeps the twelfth place with 14 games lost. Union Hainaut's next round opponent will be league's leader Bourges on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Aix-en-Provence will play against Mondeville (#4).
