Regular Season Round 19: Bolzano - Alghero 42-56

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Bolzano (7-11) was defeated at home by twelfth ranked Alghero (5-13) 56-42 on Saturday. Bolzano was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 23-5 charge of Alghero, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Bulgarian power forward Radostina Slavova-Naneva (188-86) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. Guard Elisa Donati (170-80) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty, agency: LBM Management) produced 7 points and 15 rebounds and power forward Giulia Crestani (186-82) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Alghero moved-up to eleventh place in North. Bolzano lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Alghero will face higher ranked Terme di Cervia (#10) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
