No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Muggia (13-6) defeated on the road 10th ranked Terme di Cervia (6-11) 61-53 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-8. But Terme di Cervia won second period 13-5. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Terme di Cervia 47-24 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Annalisa Borroni (183-83) fired 27 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Slovenian center Ajda Gabrovsek (190-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 24 rebounds. Muggia's coach Matjia Jogan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Elena Ramo' (180-94) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Sara Cappucci (184-91) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Muggia. Newly promoted Muggia maintains fifth place in North with 13-6 record. Terme di Cervia lost their third game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Muggia will face Udine (#6) at home in the next round. Terme di Cervia will play against Alghero (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
