Seventh-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (11-21) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Panasonic Trians (19-13) in Nagoya on Sunday. The visitors from Osaka managed to secure only one-point victory 90-89. However their fans expected easier game. Panasonic Trians made 27-of-31 free shots (87.1 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Panasonic Trians made 8 blocks. The winners were led by international guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Charles O'Bannon (198-75, college: UCLA) supported him with 18 points. Five Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) did not help to save the game for Mitsubishi Dolphins. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) added 20 points and 6 assists for lost side. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panasonic Trians moved-up to third place, which they share with Hitachi SR. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Panasonic Trians' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Osaka Hitachi Sunrockers.
