Not a big story in a game when 11th ranked Boca Juniors (9-14) lost to sixth ranked Lanus (15-9) in Buenos Aires 69-74 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Boca Juniors was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-12 charge of Lanus, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for the former international guard Mariano Byro (195-82) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. International guard Nicolas Laprovittola (189-90) contributed with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Five Lanus players scored in double figures. American guard Larry O'Bannon (194-83, college: Louisville, agency: Interperformances) replied with 20 points and his fellow American import power forward Derrick Alston (208-72, college: Duquesne, agency: Priority Sports) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Boca Juniors. Lanus have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sionista. Loser Boca Juniors keeps the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Lanus will face Atenas (#6) in Cordoba in the next round. Boca Juniors' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Buenos Aires to the arena Obras.
