Regular Season Round 10: Qatar - Al Arabi 63-86

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Doha: Al Arabi (#4) and Qatar Sports Club (#8). Qatar Sports Club was smashed at home by 23 points 63-86 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Al Arabi outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 49-35 including a 36-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Al Arabi brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks. American-Nigerian forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson, agency: Dream Team Management) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Al Arabi players scored in double figures. Senegalese Oumar Seck replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and American guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) added 18 points, 10 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Qatar Sports Club. Qatar Sports Club's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Al Arabi (6-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Gharrafah and Al Jaysh. Qatar Sports Club at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Ahli.
