Regular Season Round 38: Niigata Albirex - Oita H.Devils 88-77

Very predictable result when third ranked Niigata Albirex (18-16) won against at home 8th ranked Oita Heat Devils (11-22) 88-77. It looked good early as Oita Heat Devils took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Niigata Albirex had a 31-15 second period charge getting the lead and Oita Heat Devils were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 77-88. They outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 44-31 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who scored 19 points. Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (206-84, college: Northeastern, agency: KMG Sports Management) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA) produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Matt Lottich (193-82, college: Stanford) added 14 points respectively for the guests. Niigata Albirex maintains third position with 18-16 record having nine points less than leader Hamamatsu P. Oita Heat Devils at the other side keep the eighth place with 22 games lost. Niigata Albirex's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Akita Happinets on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. Oita Heat Devils will play against Shimane Magic (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
