There was an upset when higher ranked Sionista (15-9) was edged by thirteenth ranked Olimpico de La Banda (9-15) in Parana 73-71 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 19-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American point guard Gregory Grays (185-79, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 17 points. Forward Fernando Malara (194-80, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Federico Ferrini (194-83) replied with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Puerto Rican guard Johwen Villegas (193-85, college: FIU) added 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sionista. Four Sionista players scored in double figures. Olimpico de La Banda have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Wuber-Est.Bahia. Sionista lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with nine games lost. Olimpico de La Banda will face higher ranked Lanus (#5) in Buenos Aires in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sionista will play on the road against La Union in Formosa.
