Regular Season Round 18: Ramat Hasharon - Maccabi Ashdod 77-75

There was a change at the D1 leadership position after last games. Round 18 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Maccabi Ashdod (12-4). They were edged by third ranked Ramat Hasharon (12-5) 77-75 on Monday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Maccabi Ashdod won second period 23-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Ramat Hasharon won last quarter 16-15. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 24 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jia Perkins (173-82, college: Texas Tech, agency: Merit Sports) chipped in 16 points during the contest. The best for the losing side was Plenette Pierson (188-81, college: Texas Tech) with 26 points and 7 rebounds and guard Tamera Young (188-86, college: JMU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Ramat Hasharon maintains third position with 12-5 record behind leader Elitzur Ramla. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Elitzur Ramla. Maccabi Ashdod will play next round against Elitzur Holon trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Ramat Hasharon will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
