There was no surprise when 6th ranked Castelletto (8-16) lost on the road to second ranked Torino (17-8) 87-82 on Monday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 27-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Torino made 31-of-35 free shots (88.6 percent) during the game. Torino outrebounded Castelletto 34-20 including 23 on the defensive glass. Castelletto was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for the former international forward Cristiano Masper (208-73) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Francesco Conti (205-83) contributed with 14 points for the winners. point guard Simone Ferrarese (182-87) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and guard Filiberto Dri (190-89) added 22 points (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Castelletto. Five Castelletto players scored in double figures. Torino maintains second place with 17-8 record having just two points less than leader Trento. Castelletto lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the sixth position with 16 games lost. Torino will face Casalpusterlengo (#4) on the road in the next round. Castelletto will play against the league's second-placed Trieste.
