Very expected game when 12th ranked Olimpico de La Banda (9-16) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Lanus (17-9) 77-71 on Friday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Olimpico de La Banda won third quarter 19-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lanus made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game, while Olimpico de La Banda only scored eight points from the stripe. American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) stepped up and scored 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and the former international center Diego Guaita (204-83) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Brown is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Lanus players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward John DeGroat (198-85, college: Pittsburgh) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds and power forward Cristian Amicucci (201-85) scored 13 points and 7 rebounds. Lanus have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Olimpico de La Banda keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Lanus will face Atenas (#5) in Cordoba in the next round. Olimpico de La Banda will play at home against Quilmes MP (#15) in Mar del Plata.
